The Board of Trustees
The Fund is governed by a fifteen-member Board of Trustees including ten teachers representing the ten regions of the country. These individuals are voted for by members of GNAT at the regional level to represent them on the Board. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees is selected by the National Council of GNAT. Currently, Mr. David Kwabla Kattah is the Chairman of the Board. In addition, the National Council of GNAT is represented on the Board by two of its Executive Officers. GNAT also appoints three external members to the Board of Trustees by virtue of their expertise in matters relating to Investment and Fund Management.

Godwin Yaw Andam, Board Chairman
Mr. Godwin Yaw Andam was elected Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Teachers Fund in March 2026. Mr. Andam is a highly experienced education administrator and union leader with a strong background in educational planning, data management, and stakeholder engagement within the Ghana Education Service (GES). He presently holds the position of Deputy Director at the Agona East District Education Directorate, where he oversees key areas such as Statistics, Planning, and ICT.
He holds a Master’s degree in Labour Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences (Economics and Geography) from the University of Cape Coast. His professional development is further strengthened by certifications in Public Leadership and Governance, Financial and Operational Capacity Building, Management and Leadership, and Digital Literacy from reputable institutions such as Presbyterian University, GIMPA, and the University of Cape Coast.
With over 17 years of dedicated service to the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Mr. Andam has shown exceptional leadership and commitment to promoting the welfare of teachers and education workers. Progressing through the ranks from School Representative to District Chairman, he now serves as the Central Regional GNAT Chairman. In this role, he provides strategic guidance, advocates for teacher welfare, and enhances institutional collaboration within the education sector. He is also the Chairman of the Agona East District Teachers and Education Workers Welfare, highlighting his passion for improving the professional and social well-being of educators.

Alhasasan Andani External Trustee
Mr. Alhassan Andani, the immediate past Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic Bank Ghana, was appointed onto the Board of Teachers’ Fund in October 2020.
Mr. Andani has over three decades of local and international working experience in Banking. He began his career at the then SSB Bank Limited in 1984, and rose through the ranks to become the Regional Project Manager for the Upper Region and Credit Officer in the Development Finance Division. He joined the Standard Chartered Bank in 1993 as a Senior Accounts Relations Manager and rose to the position of Regional Manager (Domestic Division).
He joined Barclays Bank Ghana Limited in year 2000 as Executive Director and became the Deputy Managing Director in 2004.
Before his appointment as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, he was the Director (Non Presence Countries) at Barclays Africa, Johannesburg. Mr. Andani holds a BSc. Degree in Agriculture from the University of Ghana and a Master’s Degree in Banking and Finance from Finafrica Institute in Milan, Italy.
He is an alumnus of the Oxford Strategic Leadership Programme and holds an International Management Certificate from INSEAD.
He has also attended several Banking, Leadership and People Management executive level training. He is the Board Chairman of four Charities and a number of reputable organizations including StanLib Ghana Limited, CSRI-Plus Limited and CEO Advisory Group on SDGs Ghana. He is also a Board Member of several well- known firms.

Dr. Kweku Ainuson, External Trustee
Dr. Kweku Ainuson was appointed as a member of the Teachers’ Fund Board in March 2018. He is a lecturer at the faculty of law, University of Ghana where he teaches Company Law, Commercial Law and Natural Resource Law. Dr. Ainuson was previously a visiting Assistant Professor and an Assistant Professor at Clemson University in South Carolina, USA and Mississippi State University in Starkville Mississippi, USA, respectively.
He has several publications to his credit and has his articles in some leading peer reviewed journals in the world. Dr. Ainuson is also a partner at the law firm AB Lexmall Associates where his practice focuses on Corporate, Commercial and Natural Resource law.
Dr. Ainuson went to Mfantsipim School. He has an LLB (Law) from University of Ghana, an LLM degree from University of Georgia in the United States and an MPA and PhD from Clemson University in South Carolina in the United States.
Dr. Ainuson is a member of the Ghana Bar Association. He is also a member of the State of Georgia Bar (United States) where he is registered as a foreign law consultant.

Dr. Fritz A. Gockel – External Trustee
Augustine Fritz Gockel holds a PhD in Economics from The University of Manchester, UK. He is currently a Policy Analyst with USAID Policy LINK DAI. He was Head of the Department of Economics at the University of Ghana, Legon; a Visiting Lecturer at the Joint Facility for Electives in the Collaborative Masters Programme for Anglophone Africa. He was also a Member of the PhD Academic Committee of the AERC and an External Examiner at the University of Cape Coast.
Dr. Gockel was Chief Examiner for GCE A/Level economics at the West African Examinations Council. He served as a Board Member of the Advisory Panel of Africa Means Business of the Thomson Media Foundation funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He was also a Board Member of the Centre for Economic Policy Analysis (CEPA), a Board Member of the International Growth Centre to research African economic issues, and a Commissioner of the National Development Planning Commission. Additionally, he was the Lead Director of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Ghana and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of GCB Bank.
Dr. Gockel has considerable experience in economic policy analysis, which expertise he has availed to institutions such as USAID, IMF, World Bank, DFID, ILO, UNECA, UNDP, among others. He has published several articles and books on economic policy reforms in Ghana. With two others, Dr. Gockel was the Lead Economist of three Ghanaian researchers of USAID who put together the Financial Sector Strategic Plan (FINSSP). His research into social security in Ghana, especially the performance of SSNIT vis-a-vis CAP 30, engendered pension reforms and provided the framework for the Fund.
Dr. Gockel worked with USAID to provide the policy framework for the establishment of the Ghana Venture Capital Trust. He also worked with the National Development Planning Commission to review Ghana’s earlier poverty reduction strategy paper (GPRS I) and to draw up Ghana’s Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy (GPRS II).
Dr. Gockel has worked closely with the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI) on various policy reforms, culminating in the Ghana Trade Policy and Ghana Industrial Policy blueprints and their implementation frameworks: the Trade Sector Support Programme (TSSP) and the Industrial Sector Support Programme (ISSP). He was the team leader of the Technical Working Group that crafted Ghana’s Blueprint on AfCFTA, the Ghana National AfCFTA Policy Framework and Action Plan for Boosting Ghana’s Trade with Africa. He also worked with MOTI on Ghana’s Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with the EU and the UK.
Dr. Gockel led the policy team of USAID/SIGMAONE to establish the National Labour Commission along the lines of the United States Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services Commission (FMCS).

Thomas Tanko Musah, Trustee –GNAT Headquarters
Mr. Thomas Tanko Musah is the General Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers, GNAT.
He was appointed to the Board in December 2019. He holds M. Ed. (Education and Administration) from the University of Cape Coast, EMBA (HRM) from the University of Ghana Business School, Legon and M.A. in Human Rights from the University of Education, Winneba.
He graduated from the University of Ghana Legon with a B.A. (Hons) Degree in Political Science with History in year 2000. He also holds a Post-Graduate Certificate in Labour Policy (PGCLB) from the University of Cape Coast, and a Professional Certificate from the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners (HRMP).
He is a labour Policy Analyst and Associate Member of the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners (IHRMP) Ghana. Until his appointment in December 2019 as GNAT General Secretary, he was the Head of the Membership Education and Youth Desk.

Rockson Boateng – Trustee, Central Region
Mr. Rockson Boateng was appointed to the board of Teachers’ Fund in 2022. He was the GNAT Chairman for Assin South District from 2015 to 2021. Other positions held in GNAT include District Youth Coordinator (2011-2015) and School Representative (2007-2011).
He is on the rank of Assistant Director I in the Ghana Education Service and teaches at Assin Dominase Basic School.
Mr. Rockson is also a Part-Time Course Tutor and a Senior Course Tutor at both College for Distance and e-Learning Education (University of Education, Winneba) and College for Distance Education (University of Cape Coast) respectively.
Rockson is currently on a PhD programme (Curriculum and Teaching) at the University of Cape Coast. He holds Master of Philosophy in Basic Education, Bachelor of Education in Basic Education all from the University of Education, Winneba, and a Diploma in Basic Education from Foso College of Education.

Michael Austen Kugblenu – Trustee, Greater Accra Region
Mr. Austen Kugblenu, currently the Chairman of GNAT Accra Metro West, was appointed to the Board of Teachers’ Fund in 2022. He obtained a 3-year Post Secondary Certificate “A” from the Accra Teachers’ Training College, Legon, now Accra College of Education in 2002. He then proceeded to the University of Ghana for a Diploma in Youth Development in 2006 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Psychology and Education) from the University of Education, Winneba.
Mr. Kugblenu has a certificate in Pensions Administration from the National Pensions College in Accra. He works with the Ablekuma North Education Directorate of the Ghana Education Service as a Public Relations Officer.
Mr. Kugblenu once served as the Basic Schools’ Representative of GNAT Accra Metro West and National Coordinator for Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG).

Roger Nauh Sunday Nyaaba – Trustee, Eastern Region
Mr. Roger Nauh Sunday Nyaaba was appointed to the Board of the Teachers’ Fund in January 2026. He started his career as a classroom teacher at
Abooso Roman Catholic Basic School in the Fanteakwa North District and rose to become the Headteacher of the same school in 2006. He was
subsequently re-assigned by the District Director of Education as the Officer in charge of Education Management and Information System (EMIS) at the
District. He is currently the Officer in charge of Integrated Personnel and Payroll Database (IPPD) in the Fanteakwa District and a Deputy Director in
the Ghana Education Service.
As a Unionist, Roger has held several positions in GNAT including School Representative, Local Secretary, District Trustee and District Chairman of GNAT. He has also served on a number of constitutional bodies and committees in GNAT including Chairman of the Eastern Regional Sub-Committee on Salaries, Terms
and Conditions of Service (2017-2021), Member of National Sub-Committee on Salaries, Terms and Conditions of Service (2017-2021), Member of Eastern Regional Council 2017-2025, Member of National Council (2017-2025), Member of National Constitutional Amendments Committee (2021-2024) and Founding Member of the GNAT Cancer Foundation Board.
He holds a Master of Educational Administration (2007), Bachelor of Education in Mathematics (2010) and Diploma in Basic Education (2014) from the University of Cape Coast. He also holds a a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) and a 3-Year Teachers’ Certificate (Post-Secondary). Mr. Nyaaba is certificated by the Ghana Statistical Service as a National Trainer for
Censuses and Surveys. He also holds Certificates in Pensions Management and Conflict Resolution and Management.

Francis Awan Ndago – Trustee, Upper East Region
Mr. Francis Ndago was appointed to the Teachers’ Fund Board in 2022. He is the Deputy Director for Finance and Administration at the District Education Directorate at Bongo in the Upper East Region.
He holds a Master of Education, Mentoring from the University of Education, Winneba and a Master of Art in Human Resource Management from the University of Cape Coast.
Mr. Ndago, has voluntarily served as the Local Manager of Catholic Schools (St. Anne’s Parish) in Bongo since 2015 and has been the Focal Person for Membership Education for the Teachers’ Fund in the Bongo District since 2012. He has served as a Resource Person for a number of Membership Education programmes for GNAT in the Bongo District.

Ziemah Nicholas – Trustee, Upper West Region
Mr. Ziemah was appointed as a member of the Teachers’Fund Board in 2022. He is an Educationist and Specialist in Test Development, Assessment, Measurement and Programme Evaluation.
Mr. Ziemah holds a Masters Degree in Educational Measurement and Evaluation and a Bachelor of Education Degree in Mathematics from the University of Cape Coast. He also holds a Certificate in Educational Consultancy from Neogenic Education and has attended training in Donor Funded Project Management and Risk Management.
He is the immediate past District Treasurer for the Sissala GNAT Municipal and a former member of the Board of Governors of Kanton Senior High School. Mr. Ziemah is currently a member of the Sissala East Municipal Education Oversight Committee. He is currently the Municipal Budget Officer, Procurement Officer and the Officer in charge of the Personnel Processing section of the Sissala East Municipal Education Directorate in the Upper West Region.

Najat Mahamudu – Trustee, Northern Region
Ms. Najat Mahamudu was appointed to the Teachers’ Fund Board in January 2026. She is a result-oriented education professional with a career spanning
over three decades in the Ghana Education Service. Currently, she is a Deputy Director serving as the Senior Housemistress at Tamale Girls Senior High School.
Beyond her school responsibilities, Najat is a committed advocate for teachers’ welfare and has held numerous leadership roles within the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) over the past 20 years. She has experience in Leadership & Governance as well as Financial Oversight.
She holds a Master of Arts in Development Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Development Studies all from the University for Development Studies.

Priscilla Kyeraa Konadu – Trustee, Brong Ahafo Region
She is a Master of Philosophy (MPhil, Mathematics Education) candidate of University of Cape Coast. She holds a Master of Education Degree in Mathematics, a Bachelor of Education Degree in Mathematics and a Diploma in Basic Education, all from University of Cape Coast.
She is a Principal Mathematics Tutor at Nkoranza Technical Institute of the Ghana TVET Service. She has held several positions in GNAT including the Brong Ahafo Regional GNATLAS Secretary, and Regional GNATLAS Treasurer. Prior to taking up these regional level positions, she was the Banda Ahenkro local GNATLAS Coordinator and GNAT School Representative for Banda Ahenkro R/C Junior High School

Kwadwo Kankam – Trustee, Ashanti Region
Mr. Kwadwo Kankam was appointed to the Board in 2023. He holds a Master’s degree in Education in Educational Administration, a Bachelor of Education Degree in Science and a Diploma in Basic Education, all from the University of Cape Coast.
He is an Assistant Director 1 with the Ghana Education Service. He is an Integrated Science teacher and the Headmaster of Hwibaa D/A JHS. He has held several positions in GNAT including Local GNAT Chairman (2014-2016) and Local GNAT Secretary (2012-2014) for Wioso in the Ahafo Ano South District.
Kwadwo Kankam is a dedicated educator and leader with extensive experience in teaching, educational
administration, and organizational leadership.

Christian Kwame – Trustee, Volta Region
Mr. Kwame was appointed as a Board member of Teachers’ Fund in 2022. He is the Principal of the E.P. Technical Vocational Institute in Alavanyo in the Volta Region. He has expertise in Construction, Financial Administration and Project Management.
Mr. Kwame holds an M.Phil. in Construction Technology from the University of Education, Winneba, and a Master of Education in Administration from the University of Cape Coast.
He also has an Executive Certificate in Financial Accounting from the Africa Centre for Capacity Building. He has held several positions in GNAT including South Tongu District Technical Representative (2009-2013) and Volta Regional Technical Representative (2013-2021).

Stephen Kuma Angu – Trustee, Western Region
Mr. Stephen Kuma Angu was appointed to the Teachers’ Fund Board in January 2026. He is an accomplished educationist, public servant and governance professional with extensive experience in educational administration, financial oversight, and local government leadership. He is currently the Human Resource Officer at the District Education Directorate, Wassa East, Daboase.
His involvement with the Ghana National Association of Teachers includes serving as the Western Regional Representative, National Finance Committee from 2013–2025 and the Member of the National Budget Committee from 2014–2025. Beyond education, Stephen is engaged in local governance and public accountability and has occupied positions such as Presiding Member, Wassa East District Assembly, Assembly Member, Sekyere Himan
Electoral Area (2015–present), Chairman, Audit Report Implementation Committee, Wassa East Assembly (2015–2017), Member, Audit Committee (2025–present) and National Trustee, National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) (2025–present).
He holds a Master of Science (Economics) and Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Cape Coast, He attended the Komenda College of Education where he obtained a three- year postsecondary Teacher Certificate.
